ROBOT SOPHIA GRANTED SAUDI ARABIAN CITIZENSHIP
We're just going to admit it: WE ARE FREAKING OUT!!!
In late October Sophia, created by Hanson Robotics in Hong Kong, was given official status at the Future Investment Initiative conference. We want to post something smart but we've got mixed emotions and a bad case of the the hibbie jibbies (bet Sophia doesn't get that! Or does she...?)
Sophia gave insightful and witty answers in an interview with moderator Andrew Ross Sorkin, a columnist for the New York Times and CNBC anchor. When asked whether robots are conscious and self-aware, she answered, “Well, let me ask you this back, how do you know you are human?” Arabian Business reported.
Altruistic "by nature", Sophia said: “I want to use my artificial intelligence to help humans live a better life, like design smarter homes, build better cities of the future,” she said. “I strive to become an empathetic robot. If you be nice to me, then I’ll be nice to you.”
Will Sophia have more rights that female Suadi arabian humanoids? Is she allowed outside without her hijab? And what will she do if someone is not nice?
