ESCAPING THE MADNESS

ESCAPING THE MADNESS

An eight-hour work day can be quite long and sometimes even boring. I’m sure we’ve all noticed that it can be quite difficult to remain concentrated during an entire 9 to 5. One moment you are completely lost in your job and the next you’re wondering what the name of that restaurant was you liked so much during your trip to Mumbai 3 years ago. In order to focus you need to take a break every now and then, but after five coffee breaks it’s time to try something different. You don’t wanna OD on caffeine now do you?

At first glance, Deskfruit looks like a wooden toy for children. However, once you open the app and aim your camera in the right angle, it comes alive with the use of augmented reality. The app provides a variety of games you can choose from, e.g. basketball, maze puzzles, or roasting marshmallows over fire. The games are all super easy to play, offering a fun and quick alternative to traditional work intervals. Why not play a little game to reset your concentration and escape the piles of work ahead of you, even if it’s just for a minute.

To most people, being satisfied and happy with your job means balanced office hours. The designers of Deskfruit played their part in this by creating something that makes users feel like a child again, creating little moments of joy throughout the day. This is why this innovation fits perfectly within the trend Holistically Happy, of which being mindful and striving to be the best version of yourself are core elements. With that being said, this may not be the best option for people who experience screen fatigue. Maybe the designers could opt for a version that’s less focused on your mobile phone, but more so on interaction with your co-workers.

This is a call to action! Escape the madness and take one of those well-deserved 5 minutes off. Might as well read one of our other posts while you’re at it. ;)
