Do you happen to be in Amsterdam and are you looking for a refreshing, brand new experience? Put Lil’Amsterdam on your list, because this is where you are going to find it.
Located at the Amstel Passage of Amsterdam Central Railway Station, Lil’Amsterdam is a so called ‘pop-up paradise’ that is going to be your new favourite spot for shopping, inspiration and afternoon-drinks. The project is a result of a collaboration between the Dutch Railways (NS) and PUP Creative Agency, that is specialized in concepts, branding and design.
The project kicked off when NS contacted PUP with the objective to attract a new target audience and create a new near the central station. The consumer is no longer just looking for a product, but for a story, according to PUP. The unique pop-up stores create valuable stories and the best part is the fact that the space will also be used as an event venue for yoga lessons and dance parties.
Diversity is key at Lil'Amsterdam, as the contributors consist of artists, clothing brands, a model agency, a beauty salon and a cocktail bar. However, all of these contributors have a deeper underlying value. For example, the Daily Paper clothing label that aims to capture and perpetuate the diversity of African cultures with modernised approach. While HACKED BY_ started their project in order to make a change in today’s fast fashion industry, characterized by overproduction and cheap clothes sold in a rapid succession. These underlying values ensure that Lil'Amsterdam responds to different trends. For example, the cocktail bar Grand Central Spirits perfectly fits the trend inline with their virtual interactive table, which recognizes which bottle is placed on the table through image recognition. Immediately the information about that brand appears and a voice starts telling about the origin of the brand. Even a morning rave has even been organized during the book launch of the Bedrock book which is a perfect manifestation of the trend holistically happy. So for a unique Amsterdam experience: visit Lil’ Amsterdam.
